New to yoga

If you have never been on a mat, this page is for you. It takes two minutes to read and removes most of the reasons people wait another year.

First class

What to expect

01

Pick a gentle class

Hatha, Yin or Restorative are the easiest places to start. Vinyasa and Ashtanga are welcome too, they are simply busier.

02

Book your free trial

Every new student gets one class on the house. Book it online and mention it is your first.

03

Arrive ten minutes early

Time to check in, borrow a mat, find a spot and let your breathing settle before the class starts.

04

Do less than you can

Nobody is watching, there are no mirrors, and stopping halfway through a pose is a complete and respectable practice.

What to bring

Almost nothing

Comfortable clothes you can move in and a water bottle. We provide mats, blocks, straps, bolsters, blankets, towels and tea.

No experience needed, ever

Bare feet, socks are fine too

Eat lightly an hour or two before

Tell your teacher about injuries at the door

Everything you need to know before stepping on the mat.

Do I need experience to join a class?

Not at all. Our classes welcome students of all levels, from complete beginners to experienced practitioners. Teachers offer modifications for every pose so you can practise safely at your own pace.

02

What should I bring to class?

We provide mats, blocks, straps and bolsters. Wear comfortable, stretchy clothing and bring a water bottle. If you prefer your own mat, you are welcome to bring it.

03

Can I cancel or reschedule a class?

Yes. You can cancel or reschedule up to 12 hours before the class starts at no charge, from your account or by contacting the studio.

There is a courtyard for bicycles behind the studio and paid street parking along the canal. Amstel station is a five minute walk.
