Summer retreat, Umbria

A stone farmhouse, a shaded terrace for the morning practice and a week with nothing on the schedule after lunch.

What it looks like

A week in a farmhouse above a valley of olive trees. We practise on the terrace before the heat arrives, eat what the kitchen grows, and sleep with the shutters open. The pool is cold and nobody minds.

The days

The first practice starts at half past seven, on the terrace, facing the valley. It is a full Vinyasa, slower than the studio version and with more time in each shape. Breakfast follows, then a long gap with nothing in it: the pool, a walk to the village, a book under the fig tree.

Late afternoon brings a second, gentler practice, Yin or Restorative depending on the day, and on two evenings a workshop on breath and meditation. Dinner is at eight, outside, with wine for those who want it and a long walk back to bed for those who do not.

Getting there and staying

Fly to Rome or Perugia and we collect you from the station in Orvieto. Rooms are shared in twos, with a handful of single rooms at a supplement. The week runs from Saturday to Saturday and the group is capped at fourteen.
