How they teach

Anne opened Studio Yogini in 2014 after ten years of teaching in small rooms around the city. She teaches the fundamentals, slowly, and still knows the name of every student in her Monday class.

She found yoga at twenty three, in a community hall with a leaking roof, and stayed because it was the first hour of the week in which nobody wanted anything from her. Her training is in classical Hatha, with later study in Yin and in yoga for older bodies, and her classes are built for people who plan to keep practising at seventy.

Expect a clear structure, long holds and a teacher who walks the room rather than demonstrating from the front. She corrects with her hands when you ask and with her words when you do not.

Off the mat she runs the studio, writes the newsletter and keeps the tea corner stocked. Ask her about the printing house the studio used to be.
